 Juliana mindlessly played around with her curls, admiring herself, when she saw the younger boy watching her. She gave him a scowl before returning to her attention to the professor. "Well, A summer on Turks and Caicos is always a nice summer. Of course, it wasn't my first time. You learn to love the best of the best luxury, professor." she flashed her a bold smile. Juliana had a tendency to show off, but how else was she going to share her extravagant explorations? Certainly not in a friendly way. Being superior was a quality that was meant to be utilized, and Juliana did so accordingly. No, she'd rather flaunt it any day to anyone.
Another student walked into the room, and Juliana felt the fierce wind push her bangs slightly and then she grimaced slightly. Who was this girl who dared to walk in with such energy and sit next to her? Juliana glanced sideways at her robes, and noticed that she was Slytherin as well. Then Juliana's mood simmered, because she learned the girl had that right.
Jules scooched backwards on her seat more and continued to play around with her blonde curls anticipating the end of the day when she could go harass hatchlings in the common room. |

Mercedez rushed into class at the last minute with books in hand, as the door closed behind her, almost catching her robe on the backswing. She pushed her hair out of her face, and looked for a seat towards the front to sit down in. She had just transferred into the class today and had already made her first impression a bad one by almost being late. Of course everyone was looking at her, because she was the only one still looking to find a seat. She sat down in the front of the room, put her books down, and sat down and let out a sigh. She layed her hands in her arms on her desk, and took a deep breath for stress. She sat up, turned around and looked behind her to see if she recognized anyone in the class, but saw no familiar faces as she just smiled to everyone, and her freckles we covered by red on her cheeks, to match her hair color. She turned back around to face forward, feeling very awkward.

Professor Smith looked as more students began to enter the room. She figured that this looked like everyone, so she might as well get started. She stood up, and looked out to the class, "Good Morning. today we are going to have a short lesson about a few spells." she said point to the black board. "Who knows what 'protego' does?" she asked. Hoping that atleast one student would know

Walking in Liam sat down at the very back off the class.
He didn't have any clue what to do so he at the board and wrote down the spells in his book.
Liam was preying that he wasn't late, as he didn't want to lose points.

Mercedez tried to think back in her mind about this word, she knew what it meant, but just couldnt grasp hold of the meaning to speak it. She scratched her head and sat up in her chair a little taller. She tapped her pencil on her desk a few times, and then played with her hair.
"Why does this day have to be going so slow..."

Professor Smith looked around the room. "Anyone," she said. "Okay 'protego' is the shield charm. This charm will make a magical shield that deflects minor to moderate spells and jinxes cast by an opponent." Magically Professor Smith wrote what she said underneath the spell on the black board. "Okay, lets try this," she said walking toward the students, "who knows what any one of these spells mean, please stand up and tell me."

Juliana rolled her eyes noticeably, when the two Gryffindors came into class late. She figured the two had probably been off snogging somewhere and the thought made her sick almost. Then, the professor had asked if anyone knew what Protego did? Well no one answered. Possibly, because no one had learned it yet. After no luck, Professor Smith gave up and gave them the answer.
I should probably write this down, Juliana sighed to herself. She wrote:

"Oh Juliana, I have missed you this summer." Professor Smith said. "But your answer is correct. The Jelly Legs jinx makes your legs shake uncontrollably, as stated in your book. Or as Juliana stated it, it simply gives your victim jelly legs." She smiled at the class, and again magically with her wand she wrote on the board under jelly legs,

Professor Smith turned back to the class, "Okay that is two spells out of the way. Only three more to go." She turned back to the list, and picked one of the spells, "Now I am just going to tell you about this spell, because it seems I forgot to put it on the list, she quickly added engorgio to the board." 'Engorgio', this is simply the enlargement spell. This makes whatever you cast the spell on several times its normal size,"
Professor Smith grabbed a jar off her desk, it had a few lady bugs in it which she normally used to show her students how the spell worked. She took out one, and put it in the palm of her hand. "Engorgio," she exclaimed and the lady bug began to grow.
Satisfied she put the lady bug in a somewhat larger container, and turned back to the back board.

The door slammed open and a fourth year boy ran into the class, huffing away.
"I'm so sorry I'm late"
He quickly apologized to the professor, then took his seat in the class, unpacking his books and other equipment. He felt stupid, embarrassed and worst of all, he felt like he'll be in detention that night. As if his face wasn't red enough, he turned around to see one or two students simply staring at him from the far corners of the room, then he went even redder. Why did he have to be the one who's late to class? Why couldn't it be some Slytherin who probably doesn't even care about their school life anyway? Well, it probably didn't help that he got up rather late, but that's besides the point, he could have still made it to class if he skipped breakfast.
Still, it's over and done with now, it happened and it's passed. Now all he needs to do is find out what he missed out on, if anything. He couldn't be that late, but late enough to miss the first or second thing the teacher taught the class, so he would need some extra help. Now he realized that, he felt completely helpless, a feeling he didn't really like, as it reminded him of home, where his family didn't really understand the life he lived. Of course, with them being muggles and him being the only wizard in the family, they didn't really understand the whole process of casting a spell, either, and they have wanted to learn how to, and getting in a huff because their blood won't allow them to. He took in another deep breath and raised his hand, hoping the Professor wouldn't mind his lateness and then another interruption right away, asking if he had missed anything vital of the lesson.
It was natural for him to be feeling worried at this point in time, he didn't like being late, he didn't like missing information, and worst of all, he didn't like being shouted at. He had completely failed the first assignment, in his eyes, and he didn't like failing, either. Especially knowing that he had to take a job up in the wizarding world. He had liked to take a job in the muggle world as a paramedic, but he'd probably end up using his wand by accident on one of the patients to save them a ride to the hospital and back to their own home. His right hand grabbed a quill and dipped it in a small pot of ink, and wrote on the parchment;

Professor Smith was waiting for someone to answer her question, when the doors opened once again. This time Daniel Halford walked in the classroom, he apologized and took his seat. Then Professor Smith saw him raise his hand, she was sure he wanted to know what he had missed. "Don't worry about being late Daniel, not this time anyways. I've had a few other students walk in a little late. But for the next lesson there will be consequences if you are not on time for class." She pointed her wand to the black board, "here are the spells we are going over during class, we have gone over three already. You may take notes, its not required but it will probably help you later." now she looked back at Daniel and smiled, "I assume that is why you had you hand raise, but if you had another question fill free to ask away." Professor Smith thought about how she hated when her class was in the morning, because everyone is always still tired, and showed it well. "Now can anyone tell me anything about one of the three remaining spells?"

Annoyed Professor Smith looked around, this lesson seemed to be too much this early in the morning. So instead of continuing her discussion, she decided to just to her back up plan. "Okay, maybe you all would enjoy this better, everyone take out your books and look up the remaining three spells." She pointed to the board, "copy down what I have wrote about the spells on the board, and for the rest write a quick sentence, I am going to go sit at my desk. Once you have finished your notes please bring them up here and hand them to me." Professor Smith walked to her desk and took her seat. "Once everyone has completed their notes I will give you tonights homework, and you may then leave the class." She grabbed a notebook out of her drawer and grabbed a pen, "If anyone has any questions please come up here and ask me, this shouldn't take you too long. You may begin," she looked down and started writing down this new notes assignment in her grade book."

Daniel nodded at the professor and then picked his quill back up, dipped it in ink and smiled as he copied down what was on the board.

[/font] He noted them down very quickly, as he didn't want to hold up the even more, but then he realized he had more time to make notes, as no one in the class raised their hand to answer the question that was asked. He felt slightly bummed, but got over it in a matter of seconds. When the professor got rather angry, he sighed, then opened up his book and began making notes on the spells she had asked the students to do. He was a geek and proud, but he ignored comments he usually gets from other students. It was such a shame they iPods and other electrical devices didn't work on Hogwarts ground and he had to go off to places where the charm wasn't in place, otherwise he could easily do his work without any distraction from students, jamming away to his favorite music. "Hm...."He mumbled, then wrote down next to the word 'Petrificus Totalus'.

He was fairly confident with his answer, so he continued onto the confundus charm. He had heard of it and used it before on another student in his third year, so he knew the effects exactly. Confundus Charm ; This charm confuses the victim, and unfortunately, gets jumbled up about anything and everything. [/font] Pretty much immediately, he went onto the cushioning charm. One he had never heard of, but he knew he would need to learn about it at some point, so he searched through his book for it. "Right...Where are you?"He uttered to himself searching for the spell. It took him maybe a minute or two, but then he finally had it in his sights. "Ah..."He once again muttered, then put his quill back in the ink and then onto the parchment.
Cushioning charm ; This charm makes what feels like a pillow on the broom stick to make flying more comfortable.
[/font] He was pretty surprised that there was even a spell for that, but still, he had to learn it, and he just did. There seemed to be a spell for everything in this world, even killing, which he was pretty shocked at, he had never heard of that sort of spell until his second year at Hogwarts. Professor Smith was quietly making up questions for the second lessons homework, once she got everything covered that she needed to in her questions she looked around the class. It looked as if everyone was working on the assignment, but who knew what they were really doing she thought. "Once you finish bring me your notes, I will hand you tonight's homework, and you may leave. There isn't any point in sticking around if your done." Professor Smith then opened her bottom desk drawer and took out her class book, she decided she would look up spells for the next lesson.

The moment that the words " You may leave" reached Daniel's ears, he jumped up like a rocket with his piece of parchment in his hand. His chair accidentally hit the person's table behind him, so he quickly apologized and walked to the front of the class, putting his bag over his shoulder and then slapping his work on the desk in front of him.
"I'm finished, Professor."
He said with a smile on his face. It was obvious he was proud with how quickly he had got through his work, and now he was being let off early, or so he hoped. Hopefully his notes would be satisfactory. He did, however, feel guilty. He had only just walked into the class and he was almost already done, if not already done. |

Professor Smith looked up as Daniel walked to her desk, she was amazed he was finished. She picked up the paper he laid down on her desk and read through it, "Very Good Daniel, +10 House Points for your notes," she said and smiled at him handing him back the paper. "You can keep your notes and use them with your home work," she reached over and grabbed a piece of paper off the corner of her desk, "this is your homework, please turn it in on Wednesday.
