Daniel is quite a smart person, yet he is also courageous, to say the least. He will quite happily stand up to anyone about anything, even if death is put right in his face. He was happy enough to tell a psychiatrist that he isn't crazy, just special, when his muggle parents took him to one when he began mentioning he could talk to ghosts. This could be seen as a good or bad trait, depending on the situation which he is in. Also, he tries to uphold the school rules to the best of his ability, as he hopes to be a prefect when he gets the opportunity. This, however, does not mean he has no fun. He had broken his fair share of rules, but he always just accepts the punishments and never repeats his actions unless they are completely necessary, such as performing a spell in the corridor to protect himself or another student. Also, he has been known to hand in extra long essays, and they tend to be early, or within the first day assigned. This also shows his enthusiasm to his work. He has, however, not handed in an essay once or twice in previous years, but that was overseen by a member of staff, due to a family death.
What Daniel does try to do, however, is separate his social and academic life, so he won't communicate with any soul during class, but he will be the social butterfly outside of class. On another note, he does let his emotions get the better of him almost every time, and that has resulted in walking out of one or two classes, or even ending up in a duel between one or two other students. However, he prepares for these duels, by studying up on books he doesn't even need to read, as he buys them from Diagon Alley. Sometimes, he even tries to perfect spells that which supposed to be for seventh year students. Sometimes, he manages, other times they go horribly wrong and he ends up in the hospital wing.
He has been described as a book worm in the past, as he tends to spend a lot of time reading, even when he's around other people. He, naturally, has been bullied for this, but he tends to ignore it, or casts a simple binding spells to make them temporarily go away, or leave him alone.
